When you’re on a budget this Thanksgiving, try these easy ways to cut back.
Consider these helpful tips so you don’t worry about the bills piling up this festive season.
Think ahead – For starters buy non-perishable well in advance.
Keep an eye out – Keep your eye out for specials and coupons the day after Thanksgiving to get ready for Christmas.
Cut Corners – Think about buying only turkey breast or legs instead of the entire turkey if your family will only eat dark or light meat.
Dairy Case - Use reconstituted dry milk or diluted evaporated milk for cooking and baking.
Produce – If you’re planning a dish that calls for fruit, check the cost of similar fruits. Compare tangerines to Clementine’s, Delicious apples to McIntosh, Comice or Bosc pears to Bartletts, green grapes to red ones.
- You and your family will also enjoy donating time when you’re struggling financially. Read on for a few ideas.

Great tips. I usually just buy whatever recipes call for. This year however, I’ll be a better consumer.

I always buy the whole turkey. Never even noticing that my family really only east certain pieces the rest just goes to the garbage. I’ll be a bit more savvy this year.

You know my mother never taught us to think ahead for the holidays. She’s always been a ’spur of the moment’ type person. She’ll be impressed though.

Greetings! The recipes here are fanstastic. Thanks for having this site. I just found a recipe for Eggplant Parmesan that I LOVE! The eggplant flavor is like beef, but without the fat and calories. It’s a really nice substitute for meat. Visit my site if you’d like to read more. Thanks again – great site!
