Abracadabra Cupcake Recipe

INGREDIENTS

    • 1/2 cup Wilton white candy melts from a 14 oz package
    • 2 chocolate-covered pretzel sticks
    • pink gel food color
    • 2 cupcakes
    • 1 cup chocolate frosting
    • Two 2 1/2- to 3-in. soft sugar cookie
    • 1 sour rope candy

PREPARATION

1. Line a baking sheet with nonstick foil. With a toothpick, draw two half-circles about 2 in. in diameter for head and four ear shapes about 2 1/2 to 3 in. onto the foil.

2. Melt white candy melts in microwave as package directs. Dip one end of each chocolate-covered pretzel stick into melted white candy for magician’s wand. Place on foil; let set. Place 1 1/2 Tbsp of the melted white candy in a small cup and tint pink. Place both white and pink candy into separate quart-size ziptop freezer bags; snip off small tip from one corner of each bag. On the outline on the foil, pipe in white for head and ears. Use a small spatula to spread. Then on the ears, pipe pink melted candy in center on top of white. Pipe two tiny pink hearts for noses; let set.

3. Remove liner from cupcakes; invert onto plate. Frost top and sides with chocolate frosting. Frost the cookie on top and sides. Place on top of cupcake. Gently peel head, ears and nose from foil. Make slight cut in top of cookie to insert ears; prop head against ears. Place a little chocolate frosting in ziptop bag; snip off tip. Pipe eyes onto bunny head. Use a little frosting to position nose. Cut sour ropes into thin strips for whiskers; insert into frosting behind nose. Place wand on plate.

Back-To-School Savings

backtoschool

Mom are you worried about how to get everything your kids need for back-to-school and still stay within your budget? The best approach in looking for savings is to first check items that are still salvageable and can be re-used from last year. No sense in purchasing something you already have and can re-use.

After you have rummaged through the closets and drawers, make a list of what items are still needed to start the new year off right. Look around for items on sale and head to a store that gives you the most for your money. For more ideas on binders, folders, pencils, pens click here for bargains we’ve found already to get an ‘A’ in back-to-school savings.

Back-To-School Tips

 No Worries Mom

Back-to-school is only a few weeks away. Starting a new year brings a new set of challenges. This is why she needs all the help she can get. Here are some great back-to-school ideas on how to get your kids off to a good start.

  • Get Organized. Set up a study area where she can concentrate on her homework and not be interrupted.
  • Make sure she knows where the bus will pick her up.
  • Review with your child precautions to take like not talking to strangers. Always go over safety tips such as looking both ways before crossing the street.
  • Start practicing good habits such as getting to bed early or laying out her clothes the night prior.
  • Help prepare a tasty lunch.

What better time to think of ways to going green than in today’s recession? Everyone should try to reduce cost, and help conserve and protect the environment. The best place to start is at home. By creating awareness and getting family members involved, we are saving the planet.

  1. One step in the right direction would be to stock up on healthy snacks alternatives you could take to work or school.
  2. There are numerous benefits to eating healthier; not just weight-loss. Eating organic foods may be a bit more expensive then regular foods however, the taste and health benefits certainly make up for it. The guarantee that there are no preservatives used in the process means you’re getting more for your money.
  3. Use a Water Filter to Purify Your Water Filtered water is the very cleanest water that is free from harmful chemicals, bacteria, and other harmful pollutants found in tap water. Think of a water filter as an inexpensive insurance that you and your loved ones are consuming the cleanest water. These filters are easily installed and can be found at any local hardware store.

As odd as it may sound, going green can help you save cash while benefiting the environment. Many believe that living healthy and being environmentally conscious are only for the rich. You don’t have to buy expensive products in order to be eco-friendly. The truth of the matter is the average person can take part in saving the planet too.

Here are some great habits to get into in order to live healthier and greener lives.

  • Turn lights off when not in use
  • Use public transport whenever possible (carpool, walk or take your bike)
  • Recycle whatever you can
  • Take shorter showers
